MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Three arrests were made this week in connection with the 2022 fatal shooting of South Florida rapper Wavy Navy Pooh, who was gunned down in front of his two children in Miami-Dade County’s Country Walk neighborhood.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed Raymond Araluce, 24, and Jakari Darryl Hardaway, 22, were arrested Wednesday while Jeremiah Bernard Longsworth, 24, was booked into jail early Thursday morning.
They each face charges of second-degree murder and attempted felony murder. Longsworth also faces a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
According to deputies, the shooting occurred just after 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 14, 2022, in the area of Southwest 152nd Street and 127th Avenue.
The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name was Shandler Beaubien, was driving a four-door Toyota Camry when he was gunned down at the intersection, authorities said.
“In the front seat, there was a 1-year-old child in a car seat that easily could have been struck by gunfire and taken his life,” Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said at the time.
Authorities said there was also a 5-year-old child in the back seat with the children’s mother, but neither were injured.
Zabaleta said the family had been celebrating one of the children’s birthday at Zoo Miami before the shooting occurred.
According to authorities, the shooter was in a four-door gray Lexus that sped away westbound on Southwest 152nd Street after the shooting.
More than 80 shell casings were found at the crime scene and at least one of the guns used was a semi-automatic firearm.
According to the suspects’ arrest reports, cellphone data and surveillance video helped link them to the killing.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
As of Thursday morning, the suspects were being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
