MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Top Republican leaders met at the 2025 Miami-Dade Lincoln Day Dinner on Tuesday, including Rep. Byron Donalds and Sen. Ted Cruz.
Florida’s race for governor is getting crowded, as we are less than a year away from the election.
As it stands, 30 candidates are running to replace Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Donalds is the early front runner, with President Donald Trump’s endorsement already locked in.
On Monday, Donalds added Cruz to the list after the senator from Texas gave his endorsement.
During the event, Donalds spoke about his campaign, touting his experience in finance as Floridians continue to feel the brunt of higher prices.
He also touched on DeSantis’ proposal for property tax reform.
On the other side of the ticket, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced his bid as a Democrat last week.
The election will take place on Nov. 3 of next year.
The list of candidates could still grow, as there remains time to file, and one big looming question is whether or not Casey DeSantis, Florida’s First Lady, will make a run.
