FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A bomb threat at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport led sheriff’s deputies to evacuate a portion of the airport on Tuesday afternoon.
Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Claudinne Caro said “the lower level and upper levels of Terminal 4 (were) being evacuated while deputies conduct a security sweep.”
According to BSO, deputies detained a man after he claimed “he had a bomb in his bag.”
Bomb squad deputies secured the bag and eventually determined there was no bomb, Caro said.
“At this time, this incident has not affected airport operations,” she said. “The investigation is ongoing.”
