Protest at Krome Detention Center leads to multiple arrests, deputies say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies arrested 31 people Saturday after a protest outside the Krome Detention Center blocked the facility’s entrance and refused repeated orders to move, authorities said.

According to the sheriff’s office, demonstrators obstructed the main gate earlier in the day and declined multiple requests from deputies to clear the area.

Officials said that while they support the public’s right to peaceful protest, they must also maintain safety and ensure access to essential government facilities.

After several dispersal orders were ignored, deputies arrested multiple individuals on trespassing charges. No injuries were reported.

The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to protecting public safety while upholding the rights of the community.
