MIAMI — A 69-year-old woman with a sordid history of scams in South Florida is set to spend more than a decade behind bars.

On Wednesday, a Miami-Dade judge sentenced Ana Maria Nunez to 10-and-a-half years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation, for stealing more than $430,000 from Zoraida Economopoulos, 78, of Doral, as she suffered from terminal bladder cancer.

Investigators said she posed as Economopoulos’ daughter to obtain power of attorney over her assets.

A jury convicted Nunez of four felony charges on Sept. 11. It added to the 16 felony convictions, all related to theft and fraud, already on her record.

In addition to the lengthy lockup, Nunez will also have to pay $159,000 in restitution.

She’s also facing additional legal peril. Additional fraud cases remained open in Miami-Dade court as of Thursday.

That includes a case where she’s accused of bilking a barbershop owner in Miami out of $105,000 after promising him returns by investing in a company selling satellites to China. Police said the victim never got a dime.

Nunez’s next court hearing in the Chinese satellite case is scheduled for Dec. 18, records show.
