Police: Kids kick doors, bang on windows at Hialeah apartment complex as part of online challenge The Hialeah Police Department confirmed they have identified some of the juveniles who were captured on surveillance video last week participating in a “dangerous” and “reckless” viral online prank at an apartment complex, authorities said.

HIALEAH, Fla. — The Hialeah Police Department confirmed they have identified some of the juveniles who were captured on surveillance video last week participating in a “dangerous” and “reckless” viral online prank at an apartment complex, authorities said.

According to Lt. Eddie Rodriguez, the children were captured on video last Thursday at an apartment complex, located at 6435 W. Fourth Ave., where they “violently” kicked doors and banged on windows before fleeing the area, many on bicycles.

“The actions of these juveniles resulted in tangible property damage, including a broken window and a damaged apartment door,” Rodriguez said in an email to Local 10 News. “Our investigators have been working diligently to identify those involved.”

According to Rodriguez, detectives have already identified several of the suspects, who range in age from 12 to 15 and have made contact with their parents.

“Fortunately for the juveniles, the victims of this incident (have) expressed their wish not to press criminal charges,” Rodriguez said. “As a result, the parents of the identified juveniles have agreed to take full financial responsibility for all damages caused.”

Hialeah police are still working to identify the remaining children seen in the video.

Rodriguez urged parents and guardians to speak with their children about the potential legal and financial consequences of participating in these type of online challenges, and warned that these trends also have the potential to become dangerous and end in tragedy.

“We take every incident seriously,” Rodriguez said. “The Hialeah Police Department will investigate every report, we will identify the juveniles involved, and we will ensure they are held accountable for their actions and the damages they cause.”
