NORTH MIAMI, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke Tuesday morning at Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management in North Miami.
The governor began speaking at around 11 a.m. The topic of the news conference is “Protecting Biscayne Bay.”
DeSantis announced that $20 million in grants and aid will be given to Biscayne Bay environmental projects.
The money will go to Miami-Dade County and a number of municipalities within the county.
The funds will support water quality improvements, septic-to-sewer conversions and coastal habitat restoration.
DeSantis said $9.5 million in grants and aid will also be distributed to coral reef recovery and restoration projects.
“We have worked very hard to protect this natural treasure,” he said.
