FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — For the past several weeks, residents in Fort Lauderdale’s Victoria Park neighborhood have been dealing with a package thief.

Now, after residents shared video of the suspect with Local 10 News, police have identified and arrested him.

That suspect, 45-year-old Vladamir Serrano, faced a Broward County judge last week after his arrest on Thursday.

Serrano is facing nearly a dozen charges, including burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and grand theft.

In the video that was shared with Local 10 News, a man who Fort Lauderdale police said was Serrano can be seen using a DoorDash delivery bag for cover as he walked up to homes and took the packages that were outside.

Victoria Park residents tell told Local 10 News that dozens of packages continued to be stolen, but when they looked at their home surveillance cameras, they discovered the thief wasn’t covering his face, and in nearly every instance, was carrying a DoorDash delivery bag.

Local 10 took that video to the police and to federal investigators with the U.S. Postal Service, and authorities said that footage assisted them tremendously in making an arrest.

Serrano has since boned out of jail but investigators said he could be facing more charges.

Local 10 News has also reached out to DoorDash after residents said he made legitimate deliveries while apparently working the company, but the company has yet to respond as of the time of this story’s publication.
