CUTLER BAY, Fla. — A man is accused of attacking another driver during a road rage incident in Cutler Bay, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies identified the suspect in an arrest report as Wilder Hernandez, 47.
It happened on Monday just before 9 a.m. near the intersection Southwest 87th Avenue and Old Cutler Road.
Investigators said the victim was driving a Chevy Suburban through a roundabout at the intersection when Hernandez, who was driving a 2023 black Mercedes, attempted to exit southbound onto Southwest 87th Avenue and nearly collided with him.
They said Hernandez became enraged, yelling and screaming at the victim while both vehicles were in motion. Hernandez then drove past the victim, stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road, got out, and approached the victim’s passenger-side window, where he continued yelling.
According to deputies, Hernandez then reached inside the victim’s SUV and punched him multiple times in the face and body. Hernandez fled the scene after the victim threatened to call 911.
After deputies took Hernandez into custody, he reportedly admitted he was wrong, saying he “should not have dove into his vehicle and hit him.”
Authorities said the victim also asked that his apologies be passed on to Hernandez, stating that he does not normally act that way and that he was “scared.”
Jail records show Hernandez is facing one count of burglary with assault or battery.
As of Tuesday, he was being held on a $7,500 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
