COCONUT CREEK, Fla. — A domestic violence incident that stunned a Coconut Creek neighborhood ended with a doctor killing the mother of his child before taking his own life this past weekend, police said.
Officers said they were called to the Paloma Lakes neighborhood early Saturday after reports of shots fired.
Local 10 News on Tuesday exclusively obtained video from neighbors showing Coconut Creek police and SWAT teams surrounding a home in the 4800 block of Acadian Trail as sirens blared.
“I just saw a whole row of cops on this entire street — must’ve been the entire Coconut Creek (Police) Department,” said neighbor Carlos Lainez.
Authorities said officers spent hours calling for the suspect to exit the home.
“They were just calling his name, just to come outside of the house, that he was under arrest,” said neighbor Johnny Madriz.
Investigators later found 34-year-old Jean Dominique Foureau dead inside the home. Police said Foureau shot and killed his partner, 38-year-old Veloudre Petitval, the mother of their 2-year-old son, before turning the gun on himself.

In the days following the incident, shell casings believed to be from flash bangs, a shattered front glass door and what appeared to be bullet holes were visible at the home, which remained taped off as a crime scene.
Neighbors said the family had moved into the community only months ago and were recently seen together during the holidays.
“I always saw him, the kids. They didn’t move here that long ago — I think it was a couple of months ago,” one neighbor said.
Records show Foureau was a 2024 graduate of the Broward Health Graduate Medical Education Program in emergency medicine.
His Linkedin profile lists him as a former chief resident. In a statement, Broward Health said Foureau completed part of his medical training within its system but had no affiliation with the organization after 2024.
“While he completed a portion of his medical training within our health system, that training concluded in 2024, and he has had no affiliation with our organization since then,” the statement said.
Residents said the tragedy has left the community shaken.
“We were really sad — mainly for the little ones,” Madriz said.
Police said the incident appears isolated and no arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
