Police ID men in double murder-suicide at Boynton Beach business office

Police investigate apparent double murder-suicide that left 2 Boynton Beach business owners dead Three men killed in a double-murder shooting in Boynton Beach have been identified.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Two men were shot and killed inside a Boynton Beach office building Monday afternoon, and the gunman later died by suicide after a brief police pursuit, authorities said. Police identified all three men on Tuesday.

The shooting was reported shortly after 4 p.m. at an office building along the 2400 block of High Ridge Road while businesses in the plaza were open.

Officers with the Boynton Beach Police Department said they found 67-year-old Charles Geragi and 72-year-old Richard Geragi, both of Delray Beach, with fatal gunshot wounds.

Police said the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Nesar Dawla, of West Palm Beach, fled the building after the shooting in a white Cadillac SUV. Investigators said Dawla and the victims knew each other but were not related.

After the shooting, a good Samaritan called 911 to report a suspicious vehicle matching the suspect’s SUV.

“Somebody just came in and shot two of our owners,” one caller said.

“There was a shooting in the office. Can you hurry, please?” a second caller stated.

Employees quickly identified the shooter to dispatch as the brother of a former employee.

Police said a possible motive for the shooting is related to a 2024 $5 million fraud case.

In that case, they said a man named Sadman Dawla was convicted of stealing money from the Geragis.

According to an arrest report, Sadman Dawla worked for the Geragis company All America Farms as an accountant, and per the report, “Wrote himself an estimated 371 unauthorized checks from their company account in excess of five million dollars.”

The report says at least 12 checks were issued to Sadman Dawla’s brother, Nesar Dawla, totaling more than $56,000.

Detectives said the Geragis had arranged a meeting with Sadman’s brother, Nesar Dawla, to recover some of the stolen funds. Investigators said Nesar Dawla came to the office with a gun and killed the Geragis instead.

They said the Geragis owned several businesses, including a law firm in the plaza where the shooting occurred.

After the shooting, Nesar Dawla fled the building in a white Cadillac SUV. A good Samaritan called 911 to report the vehicle, and officers later located it. When Dawla did not stop, a brief pursuit followed through nearby neighborhoods.

During the chase, police said, Nesar Dawla turned onto Leisureville Boulevard, where he appeared to shoot himself in the head. His vehicle crashed into a tree about 10 minutes from the office.

Several police vehicles remained outside the plaza as detectives processed the scene.

Workers in nearby offices told Local 10 News that the Geragis were well known in the area and owned the building where the shooting occurred.

“Turns out the two gentlemen who were shot and killed were friends of ours,” said Jackie Ellis, who owns KW Innovations, a nearby business. “They were the landlords and owners of our building — the nicest men. This is devastating.”

“Whenever we would run into them, which is often out here. We would give them a hug, they would hug us just beautiful men and beautiful people,” Ellis added.

Police said the Geragis own several businesses, including a law firm in the plaza where the shooting happened.

Investigators said they believed Nesar Dawla was involved in defrauding the company, but there was not enough evidence to make an arrest.
