ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Investigators say 30-year-old mother Porshe Streeter ran a hairdressing business from her apartment, which became a crime scene in January of 2024.
Deputies responded to find Streeter shot to death, and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Saun Rainge Jr., who was shot in his upper arm.
More than a year later, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rainge for the killing, saying he orchestrated the whole thing, along with Benjamin Garmon, making it all look like a home invasion.
Criminal defense attorney Trey Flynn, who’s unassociated with the case, says the brutal nature of the killing elevates it.
“You’re now in a situation where you’re looking at life in prison,” said Flynn. “This is a very, very, very serious crime. In this situation, Mr. Garmon is alleged to have shot someone not just one time, but 10 times. What does that mean? It means there’s an aggravation there. You’re not going to be able to claim self-defense in this sort of situation.”
A new mugshot of Garmon was taken when he was transferred to Orange County custody. He was previously being held out-of-county on federal weapons charges, to which he pled guilty.
“They executed search warrants on a residence that he was at after the homicide took place,” said Flynn. “During that time, they located firearms in the residence, and federal prosecutors said, ‘As a convicted felon possessing firearms, this is a case that is of interest to us.’”
Investigators allege Rainge and Garmon set up the home invasion and killing because of a custody dispute between Rainge and Streeter over their shared children, and because he said Streeter was hiding money from him.
Deputies described their relationship as “toxic” with reports of domestic abuse and infidelity.
The victim’s cousin said she was a good mom who worked from home as a hairdresser.
The investigation into the killing continues.
