MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Cold temperatures by South Florida standards are not stopping visitors from enjoying South Beach.
“Definitely should have packed some warmer clothes,” said Michelle Dobson, visiting from Nashville, Tennessee. Her husband, Kyle Dobson, said lost luggage made the chill even tougher. “We lost our luggage. So we’re here cold freezing but we’re enjoying our time”
For visitors from farther north, the weather feels mild.
“This is nothing to you guys,” said Susan Oshnock, visiting from Michigan, noting that six inches of snow fell back home after she left.
Joe, visiting from Pennsylvania, called the cooler temperatures a relief.
“It’s a welcome break for us because we’re used to the teens and wind chill below zero and shoveling snow,” he said.
Local tour guide Gustavo Tomatti said the excitement surrounding the college football national championship is helping fans push through the chill.
“It might affect the local fans having to drink more alcohol to keep warm during the game so its going to make for and even more rowdy experience. I’m ready for that,” he said.
While it may feel cold for South Florida, visitors say they are making the most of it -- grateful they are not dealing with snow.
