BSO: Man arrested in Dania Beach attack that left mother, 8-year-old girl wounded

DANIA BEACH, Fla. — A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday after deputies said he allegedly attacked a woman during a domestic dispute in Dania Beach, an incident in which an 8-year-old girl was also wounded.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a stabbing at a home in the 4500 block of Southwest 23rd Terrace.

Investigators later learned that the individuals involved had gone to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, where deputies took a man, Daquan Delancy, into custody.

They said that Delancy and a woman were involved in an argument at the home, during which Delancy assaulted the woman and threatened to stab her.

Authorities said an 8-year-old girl suffered a significant cut to her hand during the incident. She and her mother were treated at the hospital.

Jail records show Delancy was arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated child abuse, child neglect with great bodily harm and child neglect without great bodily harm.

As of Friday, he was being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.

BSO has not released a motive for the attack or details about the relationship between the suspect and the victims.
