Broward County, who is working with local community partners, will provide shelter for individuals and families through Sunday, Jan. 18.

Homeless individuals seeking shelter should report nightly to The Salvation Army for placement beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is optional and will be served at 4:30 p.m., county commisioners confirmed in a news release.

The Salvation Army is located at 1445 W. Broward Blvd., in Fort Lauderdale.

Officials said shelter beds will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited. They also urged residents and outreach workers to notify homeless individuals in their area about the availability of shelter.

They said shelter nights may be canceled or extended if weather forecasts change to predict warmer or colder conditions.
