For longtime Hoosier supporters, the scene marked a turnaround for a program that once struggled.

“We were the losingest football team in the country, now we have culture shock,” said Roger Reason, an Indiana fan. “We’re playing for the national championship. It’s amazing.”

The excitement continued to build as fans reflected on the team’s rapid rise.

“It’s so great to see the team develop into what it’s developed into now,” said Gary Langston. “To win this game on Monday night is going to be the best thing ever.”

Some fans said they were simply happy to be part of an unprecedented moment.

“I’m actually a UM fan too,” said Brent Hall. “I’ve been a U fan for a long time and a Hoosier for life. We had this planned about six months ago and both of my teams are here.”

Both teams will compete for the national championship trophy Monday night, capping a season that has energized the Indiana fan base.
