Police investigate after man shot dead in Florida City

Police ID victim found dead in car with gunshot wound in Florida City Police have identified a man who they said was fatally shot in Florida City on Wednesday.

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — A shooting left a 23-year-old man dead Wednesday in Florida City, authorities confirmed.

The incident began at Northwest 12th Street and Ninth Avenue.

Florida City police said the victims drove to the 400 block of Northeast Second Terrace, where officers found a man, who they identified Thursday as Phillip Aldridge, inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

They said officers performed life-saving measures at the scene, but Aldridge was pronounced dead.

Police investigate fatal shooting in Florida City

Florida City police said the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has assumed the lead in the investigation, with continued support from local units.

No information about possible a suspect or motive for the shooting has been released at this time.
