MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Many visitors expecting to get South Florida’s warm sunshine instead had to don heavy jackets as the area experienced a cold snap.
On tourist mecca Lincoln Road on South Beach, some basked in the glow of heaters.
The cold has also affected local wildlife, with invasive iguanas being removed by homeowners and potentially euthanized or transferred to reptile vendors.
Farmers in Miami-Dade County, particularly those with squash crops, are concerned about the impact of the frost on their crops.
