Pembroke Park legislative assistant placed on paid leave amid town investigation

Town launches internal probe, places mayor’s assistant on paid leave

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Less than 24 hours after Local 10 News began asking questions about her role, Ashley Sikora, the legislative assistant to Pembroke Park Mayor Geoffrey Jacobs, has been placed on administrative leave with pay, effective Thursday, February 12, 2026.

The Town of Pembroke Park confirmed the move is part of an ongoing internal investigation. Town Public Information Officer Joe Donzelli told Local 10 News:

“The Town initiated an internal investigation into the concerns you identified in your email. The employee in question has been placed on administrative leave with pay until the completion of the investigation. At this time, we are unable to provide additional details, as this is still an open investigation and any additional comments could jeopardize the investigatory process.”

Sikora’s position is part-time, remote, and pays $26.25 per hour. Public records, including tax documents, indicate she resides in Georgiana, Alabama, roughly 600 miles from Pembroke Park.

Multiple sources inside Town Hall told Local 10 News they are unclear about her specific duties and what work product she has produced. A review of her town-issued email account since January 1, 2026, found mostly automated system notifications, password reset confirmations, and webinar invitations. The records did not contain authored legislative memos, drafted ordinances, or policy research documents.

Personnel records show Sikora was hired in July 2025, with Mayor Jacobs serving as one of her personal references. Her resume lists management positions at Taco Bell, Journey’s, and Motherhood Maternity, work for a small airline, and a role as a family services coordinator in Kansas.

In her 90-day evaluation, Mayor Jacobs gave Sikora a perfect 5.0 rating, calling her “exceptional” and noting she reports to work “appropriately dressed, well-groomed, and with excellent personal hygiene.”

Sikora’s own comments described Jacobs as “a leader who is both approachable and charismatic” and referred to him as “the best leader that I have worked with.”

Mayor Jacobs is already facing scrutiny regarding his residency. Recent reports indicate he received homestead tax breaks on a home in St. Lucie County while listing Pembroke Park as his primary residence, as required by the Town Charter.

A special commission meeting was scheduled to discuss Mayor Jacobs’ status, but the town has not announced any findings of wrongdoing related to Sikora. The review of her employment remains ongoing.

Mayor Jacobs has not commented on Sikora’s administrative leave.
