‘I hope justice is served’: Family of locksmith devastated following fatal Miami shooting

Loved ones mourn death of locksmith fatally shot in Miami

MIAMI — Loved ones are mourning the loss of a family man who was fatally shot on Friday.

Nicole Galvis told Local 10’s Bridgette Matter that she will remember her husband, 37-year-old Adrian Venero, as her loving and caring other half.

“He was an amazing father and husband,” Galvis said.

Venero was killed while on the job as a locksmith.

According to police, he was helping two people locked out of an apartment on the 7th floor of a building on the 6300 block of Southwest Eighth Street in west Miami.

The two had just finished changing a lock on the front door.

Detectives say suddenly one of the men, identified as Luis David Lemus, pulled out a gun and shot Venero in the head before running off.

An arrest form does not say what prompted the shooting or if there was a motive.

Lemus was detained not far from the apartment complex off Southwest 52nd Court.

The shocking act of violence has left loved ones searching for answers.

“I hope justice is served,” said Galvis. “This is so not fair, he just destroyed so many people’s lives.”

Lemus is facing a second-degree murder charge and remains behind bars at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond listed as “to be set.”
