HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A 21-year-old man was arrested early Monday after he appeared to be getting ready for an “intersection takeover” with other drivers in Hollywood, police said.
According to Hollywood police, officers spotted multiple vehicles driving recklessly before they fled east on Hollywood Beach Boulevard toward Interstate 95.
“One vehicle, a blue Maserati, was found a short time later at City Hall, where it hit a curb,” HPD posted on social media. “Officers were able to detain the parties in the vehicle and the driver, Stevens Orelien, was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving with damage to property, and disobeying a red light.”
“We’re proud of the officers on scene who saw this dangerous driving behavior and took the suspect into custody,” the post read. “The Hollywood Police Department has already intensified enforcement efforts targeting street takeovers and will continue to hold these dangerous drivers accountable.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, Orelien was being held at the Broward County Main Jail on a $7,500 bond.
