Police: Man arrested in Brevard County possibly connected to pair of South Florida homicides

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Gardens Police Department announced the arrest of a man in Brevard County they say is possibly connected to a pair of killings in South Florida.

Police said Dennard Isaiah Barnes, 36, was arrested in the city of Cocoa in connection to a shooting that occurred there on Friday.

Barnes is also considered a person of interest in a fatal shooting that occurred along the 3500 block of Northwest 214th Street in Miami Gardens, also on Friday.

Killed in that shooting was family man Gabriel Floyd Hubbert.

Investigators initially identified the suspect’s vehicle as a 2023 white Dodge Ram van. The vehicle was located, along with Barnes, in Cocoa, according to authorities.

Police also said that on the same night, there was a third shooting that occurred in the city of North Miami involving the same type of vehicle.

According to investigators, Barnes was known to all the victims in these shootings.

He is currently being held without bond at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said charges are pending in connection with the Miami Gardens and North Miami homicide investigations.
