MEDLEY, Fla. — Police in Miami-Dade County announced the arrest of a man in connection to a possible chop shop.
Medley Police Chief Louis Ponce said on Wednesday, his officers responded to the report of a stolen car that had a tracking device that was actively pinging inside of a warehouse.
The warehouse was located along the 7400 block of 74th Avenue, according to an arrest report.
Officers say they noticed the rear and midsection of one vehicle matching the description of the of the stolen car they were working to find.
Officers say the man inside, who has been identified as 35-year-old Rolando Garcia, of West Miami, shut the doors to block the view of the investigators.
According to the chief, officers eventually were granted a warrant and found two stolen cars in various stages of dismantling, eight engines and tools consistent with a chop shop operation.
Jail records show he is facing two counts of grand theft of a vehicle and one count each of operating, owning, or aiding a chop shop, and forging or altering a vehicle title.
As of Thursday evening, he was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
