SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. — Residents in a South Miami neighborhood off Twin Lake Drive and Southwest 64th Avenue were shocked after hearing two of their neighbors were killed in what investigators said was an apparent murder-suicide.
The victim has been identified as Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez, 46, and police said the man who killed him is his 63-year-old husband, Peter Jesus Cabanzon.
“Peter was an excellent person,” said a neighbor who asked not to be identified. “Someone who was very social and friendly.”
Deputies responded to a home inside the neighborhood on Sunday around 2 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.
First responders arrived to find the two men dead inside from apparent gunshot wounds.
Neighbors have been left wondering what led up to the shooting between the two men, who had just married in February 2025.
