Donald Trump stops at El Arepazo in Doral

DORAL, Fla. — President Donald Trump was in South Florida on Monday, stopping inside El Arepazo in Doral.

He was greeting supporters following remarks at his Doral golf resort during an annual GOP retreat.

House Republican lawmakers were there discussing strategy ahead of midterm elections where the GOP is hoping to hold onto power in both chambers.

Trump addressed the ongoing war in Iran, claiming the regime would have launched strikes throughout the Middle East and the United States had the U.S. and Israel not acted.

“Together with our Israeli partners, we are crushing the enemy in overwhelming display of tech skills and military force,” Trump said.

He said the “excursion” in Iran will be a short term one.

“Within a week, they were going to attack us 100%,” said Trump. “They were ready, they had all these missiles, far more than anyone thought, and they were going to attack us.”

Trump did not say when the war with Iran would end, only that it would be soon.

His remarks come the day after oil prices jumped to over $100 a barrel for the first time since the summer of 2022.

The president’s approval ratings on key issues continue to drop.

A new Gallup poll shows Americans are concerned with poor government leadership followed by immigration policy and the economy in general.

The conference is expected to last three days as Republican leaders discuss legislative agendas and campaign strategies.
