Police searching for suspect in fatal Hialeah shooting

HIALEAH, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that they say occurred outside a Hialeah apartment complex Wednesday morning.

Hialeah police said officers responded to the 1900 block of West 56th Street, just east of the Palmetto Expressway, after they received calls from individuals who stated that they heard up to 10 shots just after 6:15 a.m.

Police said they found a man dead at the scene.

Sky 10 flew over the scene just before 9:30 a.m., where a body covered with a tarp could be seen outside the apartment complex as police and SWAT officers surrounded the area.

An HPD spokeperson said “we are actively investigating and searching for a subject.”

No other details about the shooting were immediately released.
