Thomas Manfredi, who was hired by the Lauderhill Police Department on Aug. 4, 2025, and was on probation at the time, was terminated from the department March 11, the same day authorities learned of the investigation.

According to the Davie Police Department, the crash occurred around 11:35 p.m. Tuesday near the 5400 block of South University Drive.

Davie police said a motorcycle, driven by Juan David Gasper Gonzalez, struck a green 2025 Jeep Gladiator as the Jeep allegedly made a left turn in front of the motorcycle.

They said they driver of the Jeep, Manfredi, left the scene without calling 911.

Gasper Gonzalez was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital with serious injuries, including compound fractures to his right leg that required surgery, according to investigators.

Authorities said video footage reviewed by investigators showed Manfredi and his girlfriend at Tijuana Taxi just before the crash.

They said the footage showed his vehicle leaving the business with no visible damage at 11:28 p.m.

Police said video from his apartment complex later showed the Jeep with a missing right taillight and rear bumper damage consistent with the crash. Parts recovered at the scene also matched the Jeep’s taillight, according to detectives.

Manfredi, 33, appeared in Broward County bond court Friday, where his bond was set at $20,000. A judge also ruled that he is not allowed to leave the tri-county area.

He was not listed as an inmate on the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Main Jail website as of Friday afternoon.
