MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Zoo Miami has closed Saturday for a second day in a row due to a bomb threat.
“In an abundance of caution, Zoo Miami is currently closed to the public following an anonymous phone call reporting a bomb threat,” the zoo posted on X shortly after 2:30 p.m. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation.”
The closure comes a day after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies confirmed that a “swatting call” was made.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, although Friday afternoon’s bomb threat call appears to have been a hoax, deputies still swept the area out of an abundance of caution.
The zoo remained closed for the rest of Friday, but reopened Saturday morning for normal operations prior to the zoo receiving yet another bomb threat.
It’s unclear when the zoo will reopen.
