MIAMI — Zoo Miami reopened on Sunday after it was forced to close on each of the previous two days.
Both closures were due to bomb threats.
Authorities confirmed that the initial closure on Friday was due to a “swatting call” being made, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said.
After the zoo reopened Saturday, it was again closed after deputies said a bomb threat was called in.
Zoo officials posted on social media Saturday that there would be enhanced security measures, including police and K-9 units, when they reopened.
Zoo Miami will reopen tomorrow with enhanced security measures in coordination with local law enforcement. Guests may notice increased security presence, including K-9 units. The safety of our guests, staff, and animals remains our top priority. pic.twitter.com/Vv7zjofYYi
