More than 150 people fall ill on Princess cruise ship More than 150 passengers on a Princess cruise ship fell ill last week after a norovirus outbreak on board.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — More than 150 passengers on a Princess cruise ship fell ill last week after a norovirus outbreak on board.

The Star Princess ship departed from Port Everglades on March 7 and returned on Saturday after a seven-day voyage.

The first reports of the breakout occurred last Wednesday.

Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, say 104 guests and 49 crew members reported symptoms of gastrointestinal illness.

There were 4,307 guests and 1,561 crew members on board.

The cruise line told the CDC that they increased cleaning and disinfection procedures as a result.

According to the CDC, vomiting is a common sign of norovirus, along with “diarrhea, muscle ache, headache, abdominal cramp, or fever.”
