MIAMI LAKES, Fla. — Two 18-year-old students were arrested last Friday after they were accused of bringing knives onto a school bus with the intention of attacking another student, Miami-Dade Schools Police said.

According to the suspects’ arrest reports, the students attend Barbara Goleman Senior High School in Miami Lakes.

Police said Yadrian Hernandez brought a black, 3.5-inch blade onto the bus Friday morning and gave it to Wedley Gouverneur to put in Gouverneur’s bookbag.

Gouverneur also had another knife with a brown handle on it in his bag, authorities said.

According to the reports, Hernandez brought his knife onto the bus with the intention of using it against a male student who he had gotten into a physical altercation with the day before.

Police said the fight was determined to be “mutual.”

According to the reports, both suspects provided some kind of admission, although their exact statements to police were redacted from the publicly released reports.

Both were arrested on charges of possession of a weapon on school property and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

As of Monday morning, neither student was appearing in the online jail database.
