Police in South Florida were investigating five deaths Friday in what they believe to be a murder-suicide. Miami-Dade police officers responded to a Miami Lakes home Friday morning after a relative requested a welfare check because she had been unable to contact the occupants, a news release said. Inside, they found three females and two males dead from apparent gunshot wounds, officials said.

Major crash shuts down all lanes of Palmetto Expressway in Miami Lakes
MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – A crash that involved multiple vehicles Tuesday morning shut down all lanes of the Palmetto Expressway off Northwest 154th Street in Miami Lakes. Sky 10 was over the scene at 6 a.m. as one of the vehicles was on top of the median, fully engulfed in flames. Authorities shut down all northbound and southbound lanes as firefighters extinguished the flames. Scene of Tuesday morning crash on Palmetto Expressway. Due to this, the substitute teacher told the student he would have to wait until another classmate got back. The video begins with the student trying to force his way out the door, and the teacher can be heard asking him to go back to his seat. The student pushed the door open and the substitute teacher grabs him, pulling him back in. The two stumble into a podium that was just inside the classroom door, before the teacher slams the student onto the ground.

Streets of Brickell, other Miami-Dade areas impassable due to flash flooding from Tropical Storm Eta
MIAMI – An intense rain band developed Monday morning over Miami-Dade County, causing flash flooding in certain areas, including downtown Miami, Hialeah, Opa-locka and Miami Lakes. Local 10 News reporter Parker Branton was in Brickell Monday morning as the streets were impassable, with the water going nearly to his knees. Several cars that had stalled out surrounded him at the intersection of Southeast 12th Terrace and Brickell Avenue. The area is just a block away from Biscayne Bay, so the area is known to flood, but the flooding was even more significant than normal Monday due to Tropical Storm Eta. “We’re just helping everybody get out of here for free.”Check the Local 10 Weather Authority page for the latest updates on Tropical Storm Eta.

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – A water main break caused flooding that prompted traffic and water service disruptions on Tuesday west of the Shula Golf Club in Miami Lakes. Hobbit Forrest, an area resident who was stranded, said her neighbor reported the flooding at about 7 a.m.“It looks like a sinkhole,” Forrest said. Jennifer L. Messemer-Skold, a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, said an 8-inch pipe at Gage Place and Cow Pen Road was to blame. About a dozen households reported disruptions in water service during the repairs. Miami-Dade Water and Sewer crews are working to fix a water main break in Miami Lakes (@MiamiLakesNews).
