Video shows Miami police officer shoot man on Biscayne Boulevard

Body camera footage shows Miami police shooting along busy Biscayne Boulevard

MIAMI — New body camera video released exclusively to Local 10 News on Tuesday shows the moment a Miami police officer shot a man on Biscayne Boulevard in May.

This clip begins with no audio but shows the officer standing in front of a black BMW as he is directing traffic.

The car inches forward and the officer holds up his hand. As the car gets closer, suddenly the officer is on the hood of the car and that’s when shots are fired.

After the car stops and the officer rolls off the hood, the video shows the driver, Menelek Clarke, walking away from the vehicle with blood on his shirt.

That’s when the audio kicks in and the officers tell Clarke, 21, of Lauderhill, to get on the ground.

Clarke falls to the ground and other officers begin to rush to the scene.

The officers handcuff Clarke and begin to tend to his gunshot wounds.

The body camera video later shows the officer directed away from the scene to sit in his squad car while the investigation unfolds.

Clarke is due back in court in April. He is facing several charges, including aggravated battery on an officer.
