MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A crash involving a Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputy grabbed the attention of neighbors along Southwest 224th Street Thursday afternoon.
Ring doorbell video captured the moment.
Neighbor Joshua Chambers said he heard the impact from inside his home.
“Boom… like a crash scene -- ‘screech’ boom like that,” Chambers said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies were attempting a traffic stop when the driver, identified as Tyriq Levar Lee, kept going. Investigators say Lee ran a stop sign and crashed into an unmarked deputy vehicle.
Chambers said the suspect’s car flipped during the crash.
Sky 10 was over the scene in southwest Miami-Dade, where the overturned vehicle could be seen along with damage to a nearby home’s fence. The homeowner is now left to clean up the debris.
Both vehicles, including the deputy’s, were towed from the scene.
Authorities said Lee was taken to the hospital. He now faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding police, resisting an officer, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and reckless driving.
Lee was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Thursday evening with bond set at just over $3,400. He is expected to appear before a judge Friday.
