MIAMI — A new Miami City Hall is planned as part of the massive Miami Freedom Park development near Miami International Airport, according to the city’s website.

The proposed administration building would rise eight stories on city-owned land at 1822 NW 37th Ave., with approximately 257,000 square feet of office space dedicated to government operations. Plans also call for an attached parking garage with capacity for up to 900 vehicles.

City officials say the new Miami City Hall is designed to encourage more interaction between employees and the public, and would sit next to a planned 58-acre public park within the larger 130-acre mixed-use project.

Miami Freedom Park is also slated to include Nu Stadium for Inter Miami CF, along with commercial and recreational space.

The move would replace the city’s current administrative offices at the Miami Riverside Center, which officials declared “functionally obsolete” in 2015. The city has spent nearly a decade exploring options for a modern facility that can better serve residents.

According to the city’s website, construction on the new Miami City Hall is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with a projected move-in date in late 2027.

It’s unclear what will happen to the iconic waterfront Pan American building, where Miami City Hall is currently located.
