The video shows two men arguing in the parking lot of U-Save Food Mart on Northwest 17th Avenue in the city’s West Little River neighborhood.

Police say the confrontation escalated when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other before fleeing the scene in a white vehicle.

The shooting happened on May 17, 2022, according to investigators with the Miami Police Department. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the store’s parking lot.

Emergency crews with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the encounter was captured on surveillance video and that witnesses later identified the shooter as David Howell, who was arrested weeks later in May 2022.

Records show he has remained in custody without bond and is facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators also identified the driver of the getaway vehicle as Skybruney Diondra Hall.

Authorities said Hall, 33, was arrested on March 18 and faces one count of accessory after the fact to a capital offense.

According to an arrest report, she later admitted to driving Howell, then 32, from the scene after the shooting and said she dropped him off elsewhere. She also acknowledged that she did not call 911 or alert authorities despite knowing the victim had been killed.

Police say Hall went to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau and gave a statement detailing her involvement. The report indicates she told investigators Howell told her he had shot the victim and “threw his life away” after getting into her car.

Hall was not listed as an inmate on the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation website as of Saturday morning.

Authorities have not said what led to the argument between Howell and the victim prior to the shooting.
