2 dogs rescued from Plantation apartment fire

PLANTATION, Fla. — Two dogs were rescued Sunday after a fire erupted inside an apartment unit in Plantation, first responders confirmed.

According to the Plantation Fire Department, the fire was reported at the Omega Condos, in the 7300 block of Northwest 17th Street.

Firefighters said crews responded to the scene and found heavy black smoke coming from a kitchen window.

Neighbors told firefighters that two dogs were trapped inside the unit.

First responders confirmed that the dogs, Trooper and Bowser, were found in the living room and rescued.

An EMS crew provided the dogs with oxygen and care, and both are said to be OK and are back with their owners.

Firefighters said there was significant damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the apartment unit, but no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
