SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. — Three women were arrested last Friday after they snatched two designer purses from two beach chairs in Sunny Isles Beach, police said.
According to an arrest report, the thefts occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on the beach outside the Aqualina Resort, located at 17875 Collins Ave.
Police said the victims were approached by the suspects, Jerrica Jordan, 24, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and two others, Andrea Vashawn Williams, 19, and Nakendra Shay Gordon, 21, who asked to use their sunscreen.
As the victims were distracted getting the sunscreen, the suspects grabbed the victims’ purses from their beach chairs and took off on foot, authorities said.
Police said one of the stolen purses was a white and gray Goyard purse and the other was a yellow Prada purse. Each are valued at about $2,000.
According to Jordan’s arrest report, the suspects dropped the Prada bag a short distance from where the theft occurred.
All three suspects were then located by police near the beach access of the Trump International Beach Resort, located at 18001 Collins Ave., authorities said.
Police said the victims identified all three women as the thieves who stole their bags.
Gordan also spontaneously told officers that the Goyard purse was inside their backpack, the report stated.
Police said the victims’ purses were handed back to them.
The suspects, meanwhile, were arrested on grand theft charges.
All three suspects were no longer appearing in the online jail database on Monday.
