MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are investigating after a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a person in the county’s Goulds area Thursday.

It happened in the area of Southwest 112th Avenue and 221st Street.

Authorities provided limited information but said the situation began with a “threats with a gun” call at around 3:30 p.m. at nearby Joe and Enid W. Demps Park, located at 11350 SW 216th St.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, one person was taken to the hospital.

MDSO officials were expected to provide an update later Thursday evening.
