Shooting leaves 9-year-old critical and 2 teens seriously injured, police say
SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – A shooting in the Goulds neighborhood has left two teens and a young boy injured. Miami-Dade Police responded Sunday afternoon to the courtyard of a residential community regarding several people shot near Southwest 216th Street and Southwest 113th Avenue, just north of Goulds Park. When police arrived around 3 p.m., they said they discovered three male shooting victims — a 9, 14 and 17-year-old. Detectives did say that the key to solving the case will come from neighbors and other people who were in the area when the shooting happened. “At this point in time, we don’t have a lot of information, so we’re going to require the community’s assistance in providing additional information,” Welch said.

GOULDS, Fla. – An elderly couple living in Goulds received a brand-new air conditioning unit, free of charge, this week thanks to the Miami Dolphins and Air Pros USA. Jr. and Enid W. Demps were nominated to receive the AC unit through Dolphins' FOOTBALL UNITES program. The program worked with partners such as the Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner, Inc. to select the Demps. “We are in the business of providing cool and healthy indoor home environments and we understand better than anyone else how important it is to feel comfortable in your own home,” said Anthony Perera, founder of Air Pros USA. The unit reportedly did not work at all in the evenings and would occasionally freeze up.
Detectives identify 2 Goulds shooting victims
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two-year-old Carnell Williams-Thomas died during a shooting in December 2017 in the Arthur Mays Villas in Miami-Dade County’s Goulds neighborhood. More than two years later, fatal shootings in the public housing complex continue despite the community’s loss. Miami-Dade detectives identified the latest victims of a shooting near the intersection of Southwest 114th Court and Southwest 214th Street as Arrington L. Veargis, Jr. and Demetrius D. Campbell. Those responsible for killing Veargis and Campbell also wounded a 17-year-old girl, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A teenager has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a security guard at a Goulds apartment complex. Patrick Dean, 16, of Palmetto Bay, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of attempted second-degree murder. Miami-Dade police Detective Lee Cowart said Dean was looking into windows of vehicles in the parking lot at the Garden Walk Apartments about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday when he was approached by the security guard, who was patrolling the area. According to an arrest affidavit, the security guard asked Dean what he was doing when Dean pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times.
Security guard at Goulds apartment complex shot by suspected car burglar
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A security guard at a Goulds apartment complex is recovering in a hospital after he was shot by a suspected car burglar. It happened early Tuesday at the Garden Walk Apartments on Southwest 112th Avenue. Workers said the security guard was attempting to stop a group of suspicious men who had just hopped over a fence surrounding the complex when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the guard. The guard was shot in the leg and grazed by another bullet. He was taken to Jackson South Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
Bodies of 2 men found in Goulds identified as those of twin brothers
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - The bodies of two men that were found Thursday in an overgrown lot in Goulds have been identified as those of twin brothers Michael and Miking Adams, authorities confirmed Friday. According to Miami-Dade police, the bodies of the 18-year-olds were found near Southwest 224th Street and Southwest 115th Avenue. According to autopsy reports for both brothers, the cause of death for each teen has yet to be ruled on "pending further studies." Teen arrested in fatal shooting of transgender woman
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A teenager was arrested Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of a transgender woman in Miami-Dade County's Goulds neighborhood. The 21-year-old transgender woman died July 31 after an early morning shooting near her home. Fantroy was the 13th transgender woman killed this year in the U.S. and all of them have been African-American, TransGriot reported.
