MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Meet the grande dame of the Florida Everglades.
Naturalist Alison Josyln was exploring Shark Valley this week, when she spotted Cecile emerge from the swamp to get some sun.
It was a bit harder for the female American crocodile to make her grand entrance, because water levels are so low at the moment.
Joslyn says Cecile is a star attraction at Shark Valley, and is named after a child who once visited the national park.
Cecile is believed to be about 18 years old and has been seen in and around Shark Valley for the last 10 years.
Joslyn says she is the queen of the Lonely Hearts Club. Another crocodile has shown up at Shark Valley, but it’s too young for mating.
