COOPER CITY, Fla. — Deputies in Broward County are investigating a bomb threat made against a local mosque on Tuesday.
Authorities said the threat, which they called a “potential swatting call” in a social media post was made against Nur-ul-Islam, which is a mosque located in Cooper City.
The person who called in the threat claimed to be affiliated with Cooper City High School, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
As a result, Cooper City High School was placed on a “Code Red” lockdown, which BSO said was done “out of an abundance of caution.”
That lockdown has since been lifted, authorities said, and the school has resumed normal operations.
BSO said there was no threat to the school or surrounding community following the lockdown.
Deputies with BSO’s Threat Management Unit said they are actively investigating the incident.
