MIAMI — A 32-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning following a parking lot shooting in Miami that left another man injured, authorities said.

According to an arrest report from the Miami Police Department, four ShotSpotter alerts were detected in the area of Northeast Miami Court and 71st Street at 8:54 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said the suspect, Samuel Saint Remy, of Miami, then called 911 at about 9 p.m. and reported that he shot at a driver who had tried to hit him with their vehicle.

Responding officers found the victim seated in the driver’s seat of a blue 2020 Nissan Murano, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.

According to the report, officers removed the driver from the vehicle and rendered aid to him until Miami Fire Rescue personnel arrived.

Police said Saint Remy was detained and a Smith & Wesson handgun was recovered, along with an empty magazine and a full magazine that were in his possession.

According to the report, detectives obtained surveillance video from the parking lot, located at 7101 N. Miami Ave., which shows Saint Remy and the victim getting into a verbal altercation.

Police said the victim then entered his SUV as Saint Remy stood in front of the vehicle.

The victim then accelerated in Saint Remy’s direction before continuing toward the parking lot’s exit, authorities said.

According to the report, Saint Remy is then seen in the video reaching into his waistband, heading toward the vehicle and then firing multiple times toward the passenger side of the SUV as it was stationary.

Police said Saint Remy then returned to his initial location in the parking lot and retrieved an unknown object from the ground.

“Due to the video lag and limited clarity, it cannot be conclusively determined whether the vehicle struck the defendant,” an officer wrote in the arrest report.

Saint Remy was taken into custody early Monday morning on charges of attempted second-degree murder, using a firearm while committing a felony and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public place.

Despite invoking his right to remain silent, Saint Remy made “spontaneous statements” that were redacted from the publicly released report and a phone conversation with his mother in Creole was recorded. His statements to his mother were also redacted from the report.

As of Monday morning, Saint Remy was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”
