MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities have released body camera footage from a shooting involving a Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputy.
Investigators say MDSO deputies attempted to stop a vehicle Feb. 24 when the driver took off.
Deputies tracked the suspect, identified as 23-year-old William Paulemon, from the air and say he crashed into another car before stopping and exiting the car while armed.
One deputy opened fire, striking Paulemon in the lower body.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment while deputies said they recovered two guns at the scene.
No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash or the shooting.
Jail records show Paulemon is facing one count of attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, two counts of displaying a firearm while committing a felony and one count each of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage.
An investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing.
