DORAL, Fla. — A driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash Friday morning in Doral, authorities confirmed.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just after 2:30 a.m. in the area of Northwest 107th Avenue and 33rd Street.

Deputies said a man who was driving the vehicle was heading north on 107th Avenue when he lost control of his car and struck a tree.

Doral police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene.

MDFR officials pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

A Local 10 News crew was in the area later in the morning as a tow truck was removing what was left of the car from the roadway. The damage was so severe that it was difficult to make out what make or model the vehicle was.

MDSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation into the fatal crash.

No other details were immediately released.
