HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — At birth, doctors told Jordan Stuart Jr.’s mother and father that their son suffered from a blood vessel abnormality inside his brain called vein of Galen malformation.

The incredibly rare condition blocks the normal flow of fluid in the brain.

“We were totally blindsided by the whole thing. We didn’t know what to expect,” said Jordan Stuart Sr.

In young Jordan, that caused his head to enlarge.

“We were able to treat him by the time he was 10 days old and completely close of the AVM, the arteriovenous malformation, which otherwise would have eventually continue to grow like a balloon,” said Dr. Brijesh Mehta, with Memorial Healthcare System.

Mehta said that could have been life threatening.

On Friday, Memorial Healthcare System and the Memorial Neuroscience Institute honored now 2-yaer-old Jordan as part of their Stroke Survivors’ Reunion luncheon.

“He’s made a full recovery,” said Mehta. “You can’t even tell neurologically. He has no impairment, no signs he went through multiple interventions, surgeries to close off the AVM. He has a full life ahead of him.”

Added Stuart Sr.: “Super Happy. I’m glad he doesn’t have any conditions. The whole process went smooth, the whole operation, successful.”

Jada Williams, also known as J-Kiss from 103.5 The Beat, is also super happy.

She said her teenage daughter made her go to the emergency room after watching her mom deal with worsening headaches and vision loss, and doing her own research.

“I said, ‘My daughter told me to show you this text message,’” Williams explained. “I showed Dr El the text message and she said, ‘Oh! Your daughter’s very smart. Let’s do this, that, that, that test’ and they did the test and that’s when they found the brain aneurysm.”

She was also successfully treated by the doctors at Memorial Healthcare System.

“Jada was found to have one of the biggest aneurysms that we’ve encountered here at Memorial,” said Mehta. “Thankfully, it had not fully burst.”
