MIAMI — A porch-cleaning dispute in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood led a woman to hose down and then pepper-spray her pregnant neighbor on Thursday, according to police.

The 39-weeks-pregnant victim told investigators that as Shelly Munoz Andino, 27, washed her front porch at their apartment building at 834 NW Fourth St. that evening, she asked her “to please stop spraying water because she is pregnant and did not want to slip and fall,” an arrest report states.

The report states that Munoz Andino kept spraying and the victim asked her mother to get a broom out to sweep away the water.

According to police, the three women got into an argument and Munoz Andino sprayed both with the hose. The report states that she then took out a pink can of pepper spray from a fanny pack and sprayed both women in the face, pushing the pregnant victim as well.

Authorities said the two women went back into their apartment and Munoz Andino followed, spraying “two additional victims” in the face with the pepper spray.

Police eventually responded and arrived to find the pregnant woman “crying,” saying she “had visible redness to her face.”

Medics treated the victims at the scene, police said.

Authorities said Munoz Andino claimed she used the pepper-spray in self-defense because one of the women had a broom.

Police arrested her on charges of aggravated battery on a pregnant victim, a second-degree felony, and three misdemeanor battery charges.

As of Friday, she was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,500 bond.
