MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami-Dade County man is facing an attempted murder charge after deputies say he fired a gun at his wife during a domestic dispute inside their home on Monday.
According to deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Noel Padilla and his wife argued after an earlier physical altercation between Padilla and one of their two children at their home in the 13000 block of Southwest 143rd Avenue in Miami-Dade County’s unincorporated Three Lakes area.
Deputies said the argument escalated when Padilla, 56, retrieved a “concealed carry bag” that contained a black gun and went upstairs with it.
When he returned downstairs, he removed the weapon, pointed it at the victim’s head, and asked if she was “done arguing,” before firing a shot that narrowly missed her and struck a wall, authorities said.
Investigators said Padilla then approached his wife while still pointing the gun at her face.
During a struggle over the weapon, a second round was discharged, deputies said. The woman was eventually able to take the gun, secure it, and call 911, according to the report.
The report states the victim suffered pain in her left knuckles and bruising on her right arm near the elbow.
Deputies said after being informed by his wife that she had called 911, Padilla stood outside the home with his hands behind his back as he waited for deputies.
Jail records show Padilla is facing one count of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon or firearm.
As of Tuesday, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
