MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A grass fire that began Sunday near Miami Executive Airport was mostly contained as of Monday, but was still blanketing the area in smoke.
The fire, fueled by strong winds, heat and humidity, had burned 25 acres and was 65% contained as of Monday.
It started in the Boystown Pineland County Park near Southwest 120th Street and 142nd Avenue.
Daniel Reyes, who owns a nearby gym, said air quality was top of mind.
“It’s a little complicated for us, if we’re going to be doing a lot of this exercise, breathing and whatnot,” he said.
Crews remained at the scene Monday, putting out hot spots.
