MIAMI — The Miami Marlins celebrated South Florida’s Black legacy Friday night at LoanDepot Park, welcoming the culture with open arms for a night of baseball and visibility.

Before the Fish took on the San Francisco Giants, the stadium was treated to a performance of the Black national anthem, with moving vocals by Lady Laurana — who didn’t miss a chance to speak on the importance of the night.

Local personalities also got in on the celebration. 99 Jamz radio personality Brandi Troup threw out the first pitch, and Marlins mascot Billy made his usual appearance.

The night was all about recognizing and celebrating Black excellence.
